Topics will include who qualifies as a domestic partner under the law, the tax implications of domestic partner coverage, how domestic partners can be treated differently than spouses, what employers should do to update their summary plan descriptions and other plan documents, and more. Lane County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Men's Breakfast
October 16, 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
CASA is hosting a special men's breakfast for volunteers interested in making a positive change in the lives of at-risk children. If you would like to learn how your unique talents could help a child overcome neglect or an abusive home environment, please contact Carrie Baltzer at CASA,

October 18, 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., South Eugene High School
The Eugene Police Department is hosting an all-family event on Saturday, October 18, to educate ages 5 and older in crime prevention. There will be age-appropriate classes covering Internet safety, disaster preparedness, property crime and fraud prevention, a hands-on class about forensic science and other important topics and safety skills. Supervised activities, such as Teen Extreme and KidZone, will allow parents to attend classes while their children are also learning in a safe environment. Everyone is encouraged to attend but space is limited, so register early. Volunteers are needed - if you can offer your time, or if you would like more information, see their website or contact Sgt.
