The Heroes Earnings Assistance and Relief Tax Act of 2008 (the "Heroes Act") was signed into law on June 17, 2008. This law includes a number of employee benefit provisions designed to soften the hardships incurred by employees who leave employment to enter into the military service. Certain of these provisions are effective retroactive to January 1, 2007. As a result, prompt action may be required with respect to these aspects of the law.
