Description:
The Childrens Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (CHIPRA) was enacted on February 4, 2009. Among its other provisions, CHIPRA encourages states to create premium assistance subsidies to allow employees to obtain health care coverage for their children through their employers group health plan. It also imposes new administrative burdens on group health plans. Certain of these new CHIPRA rules will become effective as early as April 1, 2009. A discussion of CHIPRA, and its application to group health plans, is in the downloadable pdf.
